Sailings and the best day to visit

Friday and Sunday offer the most time for a day trip in the official weekly timetable reviewed on 12 October 2026, published for 9 September–31 October 2026. Saturday follows the Monday–Thursday times. This is a published timetable, not live booking availability; a new timetable must be checked after this period. Confirm both sailings and weather/service notices for your date.

All times are UAE local time (UTC+4), in 24-hour format. The crossing is approximately one hour; the published weekly timetable shows arrival one hour after departure.

Calculated from the 10:00 outward sailing, arriving at 11:00, to the day's latest return. The suggested 45-minute buffer includes arriving 20 minutes before the return and 25 minutes for disembarking and some travel; increase it for your location, vehicle and booking instructions. The remaining time includes travel between stops. A two-hour window suits one nearby stop, rather than a full museum, lunch and coast itinerary. Later outward sailings leave too little time for a day tour with these returns.

The operator advises passengers to arrive 15–20 minutes before departure. Allow extra time with a vehicle and follow your booking instructions. Operator FAQ · Check sailings for your date

A suggested day on the island

This suggested Friday/Sunday plan uses the 10:00 outward and 15:15 return sailings in the official weekly timetable for 9 September–31 October 2026, reviewed on 12 October. Activity times are our suggestions, not confirmed opening times. Check museum access, transport, weather and bookings, and add the drive to Al Dhannah from your city.

Before travel — choose Friday or Sunday and book both

Published weekly sailings: Al Dhannah departure 10:00, Dalma arrival 11:00, Dalma return 15:15, mainland arrival 16:15. Aim to reach the mainland terminal at 09:20 as a suggested buffer, especially with a car, and follow your ticket instructions.

11:00–12:00 — arrival and museum

Allow the first 15 minutes for disembarking and travel, then a short visit to Bait Al Muraikhi and Delma Museum if you have confirmed it is open. Otherwise, walk in nearby public areas. This suggested window is not a statement of museum opening hours.

12:00–12:30 — a short heritage walk

Notice the architecture around the old area. Respect homes and worshippers, and ask before photographing people. Shorten the walk if transfers take longer.

12:30–13:15 — lunch and a break

Choose somewhere open that day or bring a meal. This window includes getting there; avoid a distant stop that adds travel time.

13:15–14:30 — coast or nearby exploring

Choose a public location with an easy route back to the terminal. Enjoy a short walk and photos if weather permits. This return is before sunset, so do not build the day trip around watching sunset.

14:30–16:15 — terminal and mainland return

Start heading back at 14:30 and aim to arrive at the terminal at 14:45. The operator advises arriving 15–20 minutes before departure; follow any earlier time in your booking. Depart at 15:15 and reach Al Dhannah at 16:15, then add your drive home.

Short plan for other days — one nearby stop

Monday–Thursday and Saturday: depart 10:00, arrive 11:00, return 13:00 and reach the mainland 14:00. Allow 11:00–11:15 for arrival and travel, one nearby stop 11:15–12:00, then return to the terminal aiming for 12:20. Do not combine museum, lunch and coast within this short window.

Questions before your visit

Is one day enough?

Friday and Sunday provide 4 hours 15 minutes between arrival and departure during the published timetable period, fitting the plan below. Other days provide only two hours; choose one nearby stop. Book both crossings before planning.

Do I need a car on the island?

It depends on your stops. If you are not bringing a car, arrange transport before travelling. This itinerary does not assume car rentals or unbooked transfers are available at the terminal.

When should I visit the museum?

Set the museum stop after confirming its opening hours for your date. If they conflict with your ferries, change the order or leave the museum for another visit.

What should I bring?

ID and booking confirmation, water, sun protection, comfortable shoes and a charged phone. Pack food and children's essentials for your trip length, and bring a bag for rubbish.
